100 Point Program For The Transformation Of The Era

Though Acharya ji’s (Gurudev) change theory holds that personal transformation is the foundation for changes at the societal level and will make social changes go smoothly once initiated, when social change is brought about, it will be instigated by actions consciously directed for this purpose. For this reason, he also gave guidelines about how to bring about change at the family and societal level as well. The most complete articulation of these guidelines was he entitled by him as  “The 100-Point Program for the New Era ”. This is regarded as one of the core documents of the movement.

It is divided in following 10 categories:

I. Food and personal health

II. Collective efforts for promoting good health
III. Education
IV. The role of religion
V. Family and community lifeVI. The role of people with special talents
VII. The role of the arts
VIII. To create an atmosphere of goodwill
IX. Politics and clean character
X. The spiritual foundation of the new era

Message by Yug Rishi Pt. Shriram Sharma Acharya:
The advent of era transition has already dawned in the subtle world and is advancing to visibly manifest the magnificent change to become perceivable, but will this happen like magic? No! Nature does not allow anything to happen against its universal laws. These are the moments of the ‘birth’ of a new era. The ‘labor pains’ will also be historic and will be experienced both within and beyond the physical dimensions of the world. Demonic forces won’t accept defeat easily. As you may know, before a gambler loses everything, he puts at stake all he owns in a last vain attempt to win the game. The darkest hour is just before the dawn; the candle shines brightest before extinguishing; and a person’s respiration rate quickens at the time of death. Just so, the devilish forces, in all their negativity, will advance one last ditch effort before annihilation.

Indeed, this is an emergency time. Do you know what I mean by this? For example, if a fire is spreading before your eyes in your community, you will naturally leave all other things and rush to be of help. If there were a train-accident in which several lives were lost and hundreds injured, would anyone present in the nearby houses relax or be occupied in his personal chores or important work? Would such a person deserve to be called human?

Well, I was warning you that the present period of era transition is a state of global emergency. Mahakala (The Almighty Lord of Time) has blown the bugle of a decisive War between the divine and devilish forces. The Divine Power has called upon all of us to be part of its army; to be the true disciples and devotees of Pragyavatar, the divine incarnation of preeminent discerning intellect.

But there is no need to panic. If you have faith in God, you know that the Almighty would not let His supreme creation end this way. The present phase of era transition is an emergency time, repercussions of which are to be fought collectively by the elevated souls and all those who regard themselves as His devotees and care to save humanity. The present calamities should be viewed as the process of germination of a seed. The seed dissolves and decays beneath the soil, sacrifices its identity to let the sapling sprout and gradually grow into a mighty tree. The tumultuous times of today are like the excavation that must happen before the foundations of a new edifice can be laid. The awakened souls have a unique responsibility in the era transition phase to look after this preparation and dedicate their potentials for the firm establishment of the foundation of the new era against all odds.

-Extract from Don’t Ignore The Call of The All-Conquering Time-Spirit, Acharya Sharma, Translation of discourse entitled “Mahakal Ki Pukar Ansuni Na Karo”

The transition to an entirely new social structure for a better human future will be managed by social architects that will emerge from the Gayatri Mission. These organizers and activists will revitalize entire communities with their enlightened qualities and deeds. In order to prepare themselves, these worthy individuals will be required to follow two essential disciplines.  The first is the curtailment of their personal needs and ambitions. This includes the self-discipline of thought, word and deed.  The second is the cultivation of an irresistible drive for spreading the science of self-management amongst the masses.  This latter requirement is tantamount to developing a powerful spirit of altruism.

These volunteers will have to prove their credibility by living simply and within the means available to the common man of the country. Living simply does not mean that one‘s productivity should be reduced. Rather, in spite of having ample resources and affluence, these social servants will be required to become role models by voluntarily reducing their personal needs. Nor does it mean that they will have to undergo great austerities, but at least they would need to adopt a lifestyle that would appear simple and high-minded to the average person in their country. Those who will take only this first step will find that there is an abundance not only of time, but of stamina, skill, motivation, and financial backing as well. When these resources are dedicated to the great task of our day, the sacred cause of ushering in a golden age in human history, these servants can become role models for many others as well.

An important spiritual law for achieving communion with God, taught in the Bhagvad Gita is called “Karma Yoga.” The practitioner of this yoga cultivates understanding that her body and its sensory organs are only instruments of the Divine. Thus, considering oneself to be a puppet in the hands of God, the Karma Yogi attributes all of her agency to Divine agency.

In order to achieve this, the Karma Yogi pledges herself to a strict discipline with regard to her sensory organs and dedicates herself to the service and welfare of others. In the age to come, the masses will be required to follow these two disciplines. Together, these two elements comprise a broad definition of the science of Self Management that must be propagated amongst the masses. This science is the method to be used for eliminating the negativity in the polluted thought processes of modern humanity.

–  Roadmap to Revolution, Acharya Sharma, Pg 9, an English translation of “Samagra Kranti Ki Ruparekha”
According to scripture, in prehistoric times, to atone for the sins of his clan, king Bhagirath carried out intensive meditation and practiced a severe asceticism for many years before invoking the grace of divinity to make a tributary of the celestial Ganges River descend to Earth. The present giant collective spiritual exercise of Gayatri Sadhana for transitioning to a new era, conducted in the interval between two centuries, can be compared to the endeavor of Bhagirath in that its objective is to create a new ‘Divine River of Wisdom’ for cleaning the present chaos and disorder and heralding the forthcoming new world order.

In order to reach the entire population of the world, this revolution must expand like the mythological incarnation of Divinity as Matsyavatara, which initially appeared as a tiny fish before gradually expanding to cover the entire primordial ocean. For this purpose, it will be necessary to call all enlightened people with missionary zeal to work together in a coordinated manner.

The illuminated ascent of men and women to a higher level of consciousness leads to the transmutation of society, thus altering the trends of time and creating a new, better world. This is the goal of the New Era.
-Pt. Shriram Sharma Acharya.

The ultimate root cause of all social problems resides in the level of consciousness of those whose actions contribute to the problem’s creation.  In order to have a substantive long-term impact on a social problem, it must be addressed at the level of its root cause within the inner dimensions of the consciousness of those who cause the problem.

As per Yugrishi – “If we want to express the basis of era transformation in a single word, that word would have to be ‘bhavsamvedena‘”.

Bhavsamvedena‘ is not easy to match with a workable English equivalent. Roughly speaking, it is an emotional faculty at the core of the human consciousness, which when activated makes it impossible for a person not to help those in need. It is said that one whose bhavsamvedena is awakened is  pierced to the core of his or her being by the sufferings of others.

Because this faculty is at the core of human consciousness, it governs the other faculties.

Yugrishi explains the dominance of bhavsamvedena with regards to the internal workings of humankind: “The human consciousness is governed at  the subconscious level by the emotions, the deep aspirations and the core beliefs of the individual. The most refined form of these we can call the bhavsamvedena that dwells at the core of human consciousness.”

There are many ways of argue in favor of the Transformational Approach to social change, but perhaps the most simple is based on the understanding of human behavior as resulting from the condition of the core of human consciousness. In this way, the Transformational Approach is essentially an “Inside-out” approach, or an understanding of human psychology in which deeper or more interior states of the human sub-consciousness are considered to  govern the more shallow or outer states of consciousness. This approach to human psychology is the basis of the social theory that YugRishi Acharya Shriram Sharma describes below.

IN THE WORDS OF YugRishi ACHARYA SHRIRAM SHARMA

Why has such a degraded environment emerged at the very moment that our progress has reached its peak? After some consideration, we can see that intellectual deviation alone has led to our current fearful state. Then should the intellect be condemned? No, the intellect is governed by the intuitive emotions. When the human heart loses its sensitivity, whatever we encounter as well as the way we govern our actions will become bleached of all sensitivity and tenderness.

Because emotional sensitivity (bhavsamvedana) is so close to the root of our being, when there is a distortion at this level, our wisdom becomes degraded and misfortune and poverty must arise. So we have to make a great effort to change. The floor of the pond needs cleaning. The mud on the bottom has settled a bit, but still the water on the surface is not fit to drink. Now we are surrounded by the energy of negative thoughts. In this environment, our emotional sensitivity will decline, at which point, the only results we can achieve will be unwholesome and degraded.

Revival of Satyug, Chapter Five
If the treasures of intellect, science and wealth were used for generous purposes, we could be living at a time in which all people are enjoying lives blossoming with happiness and laughter. But what can we make of the ironic connection between the growth in expertise and the conspiracy to oppress the poor and further enrich the wealthy.

This cold-hearted behavior is a symptom of the deep-rooted karmic recordings within the core consciousness of every individual. By making a correction at this level, one can guarantee a transformationtowards higher thinking, character and behavior.

Revival of Satyug, Chapter Six

——–

When a mother-like-love rises up and reaches the pinnacle of human consciousness, then a person can think only of altruistic service to others and nothing else. When this state is reached by all, even those problems that agonize and terrify society will not continue.

Revival of Satyug, Acharya Sharma, Chapter Eight

State of mind is the origin and creator of all circumstances. This truth should be understood a thousand times and explained
a thousand more. The conscious mind and the human intellectual faculties are not free agents. They are governed at the subconscious  level by the emotions, the deep aspirations and the core beliefs of the individual. The most refined forms of these we can call the intuitive  emotions that dwell in the individual’s core consciousness.

This concept of reality is so far-reaching that it implies that, even in the face of all of our adversities and weaknesses, a person can transform himself and, in so doing, the whole world. This model implies that in order to address our current crisis, a farsighted wisdom must be introduced, cultivated and sustained in the minds of all. If there is any solid foundation for the 21st century’s bright future, it will be built out of the transformation of the bhavsamvedana of every individual. This must take place to the extent that every individual feels that all of the peoples of the world are his or her own, and that, reciprocally he or she belongs to all

The first and most important task before us is self-refinement and self-development. For this we will have to first identify and focus our attention on the central root that directly or indirectly governs the course of our lives. Think and ponder over what really makes one what one is as a person? It is the force of the intrinsic tendencies of the mind. The hidden desires activated by these tendencies drive the mind and generate the corresponding currents of thoughts and trigger the brain for matching actions. Although the conscious mind appears to be our decision maker and manager with the brain being its counterpart at the level of the physical body, the real ruler is our unconscious mind. The intrinsic impressions on it are so intense that these block even the voice of the soul. So, for self-refinement and self-transformation, it is essential that we first purify our inner self, especially the unconscious mind, reign in its passions and control its wayward tendencies that dominate our desires, thoughts and actions. Transformation of the central root will immediately transform our life.

For Pillars of Self-Development, Acharya Sharma, Translation of “Atmonnati Ke Chara Âdhara,” a discourse delivered in 1980.

———
Others feel like our own when our sense of self-identity expands. People in a sober state of mind will neither cause nor accept harm to their own family. If this degree of compassion could expand to include all of society, then one’s conscience would become restless long before allowing one to cause harm to another. Warm-hearted people will not willingly engage in actions that cause their hearts to harden and grow cold. The sense of belonging felt by those who, rather than becoming like machines, have infused their thinking with their core consciousness will cause them to feel a persistent sense of restlessness to help others with empathy and compassion.

Revival of Satyug, Acharya Sharma, Chapter Eight

——-

The body performs actions and the mind develops the plan according to which these actions are performed. But the process that fuels the body and mind with the inspiration and energy begins at the inner depths of an individual’s core consciousness. In a similar fashion, the source of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions lie deep below the Earth’s surface. Nor do we see the vapor that rises from the oceans that later manifests as rain in our fields and farms.

The same dynamic holds for the prevalence of the positive and negative circumstances around us. Body and mind are seen busy planning and executing actions. But if you want to know the foundations of these systems, then you must know that the strings of our body-mind complex are pulled by the deep-seated ambitions in the core of our consciousness.

Revival of Satyug, Acharya Sharma, Chapter Eight

This effort to bring about personal transformation may be thought of as the real work of transforming the era.

Everyone knows that capability does not always yield positive results. In fact, it is the misuse of talent, power and wealth that has created the problems we now confront. Over and above these three, there is a fourth power that governs them all. That is the power of the tender and open heart. When, by divine grace, openness is infused into human consciousness, it brings a profound sense of wellbeing and transforms the human being into a divine ambassador. When such a state is reached, a person is no longer swayed by temptation, greed or social pressure. So, we can say that it is on the basis of tender heartedness alone that the human being is enriched and imbued with divine virtues.

If we want to express the basis of era transformation in a single phrase, that phrase would have to be “emotional sensitivity.” In the days to come, we will need to remove callous self-interest, and in its place, inculcate open heartedness into the inner core of the human consciousness.

Those whose innate tendency and destiny it is to give selflessly are truly the angels of this earth. Not only are people of this sort angelic, but the whole environment where they work and collaborate can also be called an Earthly Heaven. Even if there is no place that corresponds to the stereotypical notions of Heaven, these environments can rightly be called an Earthly Heaven and the present day replication of the.“

Era of Truth.Revival of Satyug, Acharya Sharma, Chapter One

Gayatri Sadhana bestows extra-ordinary benefits on the devotees. Many people have performed Gayatri Sadhana under Shantikunj’s guidance and achieved material and spiritual benefits through this Sadhana. The reason is that they get true discriminative wisdom as a divine gift in the light of which all infirmities, complications and difficulties, which make people unhappy, worried and miserable, are solved.

The Sadhana of Gayatri is worship of supreme Knowledge. It is our firm belief that those who worship Gayatri will never be lacking in spiritual enlightenment and worldly happiness.

All World Gayatri Pariwar is engaged in multiple reformative and reconstructive activities on the personal, familial, social, national and cultural fronts of life. Spiritual refinement of the sukshma vatavarana has been the predominant focus of this mission and it has endeavored a Yagya-based movement on the lines of the vedic tradition to achieve this virtually The Yagya Campaign of the Yug Nirman Mission  The Yug Nirman Yojana mission of All impossible goal.

This historic mission has emerged from the rigorous tap-sadhna of the Vishwamitra of our times, the rishis of this age – Pt. Shriram Sharma Acharya. The devout endeavors and supernormal spiritual eminence of this yug rishi enabled the epochal descent of the otherwise lost and forgotten super knowledge (vidya) of Gayatri and accomplished it as the savior of the world. This visionary saint deciphered and propagated the divine light of Yug Ïakti Gayatri to reach the masses and also pioneered the revival of the vedic culture of Yagya so that it could be adopted by every man and woman in the present times too.   Likewise the rishis of yore, his sagacious acumen and saintly heart had understood the enormous problems and crisis of the era through deeper depths. He therefore encouraged eroding of the root cause hidden in the sukshma vatavarana and attempted colossal refinement in every dimension of the gross and sublime environment of life by the spiritual experiments of Gayatri Sadhana and Yagya.Massive number of small and hundreds of grand Yagyas have been organized since the advent of his “Yug Nirman” campaign. The “Sahastranshu Brahm Yagya” performed on the Gayatri Jayanti 1953 was the first spiritual experiment of grand participation of people from all parts of the society. It was the auspicious commemoration of the glorious completion of thetwenty-four divine Mahapurashcharnas endeavored by Gurudev Shriram Sharma Acharya for twenty-four years. This also laid the foundation of the Gayatri Pariwar. Series of distinct Yagyas in vedic tradition commenced in 1955 in which the Mahamrityunjaya Yagya, Rudra Yagya, VishnuYagya, Indra Yagya, Nava Graha Yagya, GanpatiYagya, Saraswati Yagya, Jyotioma Yagya, Agnioma, and the Gayana Yagya of the four Vedas, etc were performed with the participation of more and more Gayatri Sadhakas.  Year 1956 marked the 108 Kundiya Yagyas and grand Narmedha Yagya to mobilize the collective power and enthusiasm of the Sadhakas dedicated towards social reformation and welfare of the masses. Over 20,000 people from all walks of life had participated in these Yagyas conducted by Acharyaji in Gayatri Tapobhumi Mathura. Organization of 108 Gayatri Yagyas across the country was pledged on this occasion to propagate the Gayana of Gayatri and viGayana of Yagya among the masses. This number increased to 1008 within a year, which included 5 and 9 Kundiya to 108 Kundiya (Maha) Yagyas

Introduction
The Yug Nirman Movement was launched under the guidance of Param Pujya Gurudev Pt. Shriram Sharma Acharya on the solid foundation of Gayatri and Yagya, the two pillars of divine Indian heritage. This movement has spread with lightning speed throughout the world. Keeping in view the need of the hour, various steps have been taken to simplify the ritualistic procedure of Yagya with a view to make it universally appealing and acceptable. This has been achieved by adoption of Deep Yagya.

Importance
Deep Yagya has made possible, the propagation of Gayatri Sadhana and a lifestyle guided by the injunctions of Yagya, in a very short period to large populace. Its popularity has spread with tremendous speed due to the use of lamps and fragrant sticks, which are universally used in worship and prayer by all religions. Therefore, followers of all faiths participate in Deep Yagya without hesitation. Also Dravya Yagya in vogue requires much longer time and is therefore performed in batches, turn by turn. The devotees participating in Dravya Yagya thus fail to derive the full benefits of inspiration from it.However Deep Yagya  is completed within a much shorter period of about one and a half hours and all participants collectively enjoy the delightful and enchanting view of the twinkling lamps. They thus derive the full benefit of inspiration from DeepYagya.

There are two basic energy systems in the physical world: Heat and Sound. In performing Yagya, these two energies, namely, the heat from Yagya’s fire and the sound of the Gayatri and other Mantras, are combined to achieve the desired physical, psychological and spiritual benefits.

The fumigation of specific substances in the Yagya – fire is a scientific method of subtulisation of matter into energy and expanding its potential and positive effects in the surrounding atmosphere. The electromagnetic waves generated thereby help in transmitting, at cosmic level, the desired sonic signals ‘stored’ in the Mantras, which are chanted during the process of sacrificing the special materials in the fire.  Read More

Mantra Vigyan as developed by the –Rishis – the Indian sages of yore, is a science based on the realization of the omnipotent power of Shabd– the eternal sound.

The limitless power of Sabda enfolded in the specific compilation of the Vaidika Mantras was deeply realized by the rishis. They were therefore known as mantra Drusta – the visionaries of mantras. They had experienced, experimented and expanded enormous applications of the science of mantras. While teaching different modes of mantra-sadhans , they had also warned concerning the precautions necessary to avoid any improper use of such mantras. Prof. Bever, a noted scholar from Germany, has also expressed similar opinion about the immense subliminal power indwelling in the mantras.

The quality of sound we hear in different ways does have a direct bearing upon our mental and emotional reactions. This could be seen in our day-to-day encounters too. For example, the roaring sound of a lion or the trumpeting of an elephant does create a feeling of fear even if it is heard for the first time or even if the listener does not recognize ‘what sound is that?’ Similar is true of the ‘irritating’ voice of a crow. On the contrary, whenever heard, the sweet warbling sound of a nightingale is going to generate soothing effects only…. The latent vibrations of Shabdimmanent in every kind of sound, can stir the ocean of surrounding energy waves to separate out and expunge the forces of opposite (insidious) quality.

Every mantra in the Vedas has been linked with a Devta that symbolizes an eternal energy field of specific flow of cosmic consciousness. Whenever a mantra is enunciated or chanted in a specific rhythmic manner, its associated sonic waves expand in a specific pattern and after traversing across the layers of energy-particles in the surrounding space reach and penetrate the corresponding cosmic nuclei of divine powers.

The subtle energy of mind generated through meditation while performing a japa of the mantras helps transformation of the sound waves into electromagnetic waves for necessary cosmic transmission. The collision of the mantra-waves with the corresponding divine power center results in the reflection of the desired (as per the aim of the associated mantra) cosmic radiation. The latter return back to the physical and subtle energy cores in and around the Sadhak, or, reach at some other ‘point’ in the universe as directed by the specific chanting pattern of the corresponding mantra.

The above process of transmission and reception or ‘communication’ between the sadhaka and the divine center(s) is slow and shows negligible effects in the beginning. Its impact gradually increases in a compounded manner with the dedicated practice and perfection in the Upasana and japa of the mantra along with a rise in the intrinsic faith, mental piety and concentration and continence of the sadhaka

Savita – the subtle body, the eternal source of energy for the Sun – is supposed to be the devata of the great Gayatri Mantra. A truly devoted, spiritual sadhaka of this mantra receives the vital energy, inspiration and divine illumination from Savita. Apart from the natural gains of the physical and mental vigor and discerning intellect, his attitude gets enlightened and likewise the solar rays, his inner mind can envision and reach (realize) everything existing in the universe. The internal piety and moral strength of sentiments and the divine faith of the sadhaka help faster attainment of these miraculous powers through the japa- sadhana of the Gayatri Mantra.

Mouth is described in the Âyurveda as the locus of the agni cakra – the subtle centre for the generation of metabolic powers and thermal energy. The group of energies required for various metabolic and physiological processing is described to have its field of action beginning from the mouth and spreading up to the stomach. The mechanical role of mouth and its energy (utilized in the process of chewing and gulping, for instance) in the digestive system is well known. More important is its role as linked with the vocal cord and hence with the functions of speaking and singing…. The power of speech is among the most significant gifts bestowed upon the human species. Its importance can be very well understood simply by realizing the limitations and disabilities of a dumb fellow.

At the gross level, the agni cakra of mouth performs the initial phase of digestive mechanism, at the subtle level, it ‘produces’ voice and helps pronunciation. At the astral level it generates divine flows of the ‘currents’ of sabda in the individual consciousness. While the first two are well known to most of us, the third and the most significant role is experienced only by the experts of the japa yoga – the spiritual endeavors associated with japa and meditation of mantras. The inlet of mouth is also regarded a living havan kuñda with respect to the divine importance of the sonic energy as a source of expression of multiple manifestations of sabda. One would be surprised to note that the enormous impact of japa yoga is based on this sublime
power of his mouth.

That words spoken could well become the cause of an affectionate relationship or of hatred and hosility – illustrates the fact that the words are not only the carriers of information but they do retain and convey the sentiments of the speaker. The currents of consciousness of the speaker endowed in his speech flow with the sonic vibrations produced by the pronunciation of these words. These elements produce ‘conscious–effects’ at the destination with which the associated sound waves collide. While the acoustic effects could be studied by physical means, the ‘conscious-effects’, being latent and subliminal in nature, can only be realized and analyzed through spiritual practices of yoga sadhanas.

Extraction of the essence of the conscious power of the words (sound) is aimed at in the japa yoga. The physical vibrations generated by the sound of rhythmic enunciation (japa) affect the body of the chanter (sadhaka) and his surrounding space and the associated conscious elements induce his mind and the inner self and ‘titillate’ the related conscious-energy centers in the
cosmic domains.

The science of mantras is founded on the science of the ‘conscious currents’ of the sabda inherent in the musical sound generated by a conscious being. The meaning of the mantras has negligible importance as compared to the specific configuration of syllables/phonemes in them. The Gayatri Mantra is regarded as supreme of all the Vaidika Mantras. In terms of
linguistic meaning, it is a universal prayer of arousal and illumination of righteous intellect in all. Many other divine prayers written in different languages might also imply similar meanings, but it is the unique sonic pattern that gives a unique importance to this mantra.

The subtle sonic pattern of this mantra is supposed to generate specific vibrations in the gross as well as the mental and causal bodies of the sadhaka and in his surroundings. These vibrations empowered by the spiritual force of the sadhaka’s purified inner self conjugate with the extrasensory impulse of the supreme consciousness…. The single lettered (bija) mantras like Hrim, Klim, Ai,Hum, Yam, Fat etc. are of basic importance in the science of mantras because of the special conscious as well as ‘mechanical’ (tantrika) effects of their sounds.

The cyclic enunciation (or chanting) under different rhythms, pitches and intensities is practiced in the japa of a mantra to make different uses of its (mantra’s) sonic vibrations. In Manasika Japa the mantra is uttered silently (mentally); the level of ‘perceivable’ sound increases gradually (e.g. from the silent movements of the lips and the tongue to murmuring and humming) in the upansu and vacika japas. As described in the previous sections, the Vaidika Mantras also have specific swaras (classical musical accents) associated with them that offer varieties in their japa and hence in their effects….. The Sama Gana (vaidika modes of collective chanting) of these mantras indeed creates powerful currents with latent but inducing impacts at the physical and the subtle levels of matter and consciousness.

The consistent japa of the mantras has dual effects: externally, it generates vibrations in the surrounding space and internally, it stimulates the extrasensory energy centers (cakras) and subtle endocrine glands inside the body. The impact of these effects amplifies significantly with continuous repetition of such rhythmic enunciation at a constant pace. Laboratory experiments
have shown the physical strength of rhythmic sound that can empower a small cork to push a heavy iron rod….. A large number of examples of the Doppler effect given in the earlier sections should suffice to evince the physical potential of the superimposed sound waves.

The internal creative effects of japa can be illustrated by simple analogy with the functioning of a typewriter. When a key of a typewriter is pressed, its impact results in the printing of the corresponding letter or symbol on the paper. Similarly, the vibrations produced by silent or vocal enunciation of a syllable or combinations of the syllables of a mantra make specific impressions on the subtle energy centers and nerve-bundles and stimulate them. Regular repeated practice of the same japa under adept disciplines is indeed the root of the enormous potential gained during different spiritual experiments of Mantra-Vijnana.

That friction gives rise to the thermal and electrical (static) energies – is well known to every student of physics. The internal vibrations produced by the sonic waves of japa create similar effects and activate the otherwise unused latent glands and extrasensory energy centers inside the body of the sadhaka.

The advanced scientific applications ranging –– from remote control of the space-crafts by electromagnetic waves; delicate surgeries to heavy metal cutting by the Lasers…. etc clearly illustrate that it is not the equipment or the device but it is the ‘power’ of the (energy) waves that induces such wonderful effects. The supernatural effects of the suprasonic waves generated by the japa of mantras are more remarkable and are still beyond the reach of the advanced instruments (generators and the sensory devices) developed so far.

In terms of the modern (material based) science or acoustics, sound is generated by vibrations produced in any physical medium. The modern psychologists have gone one step ahead by accepting the latent power of voice that affects the minds of the speaker and the listeners…. (e.g. the effects of harsh or affectionate voices of same frequencies and intensities are drastically different….). These are only the crude and restricted manifestations of the power of sabda. The dimensions of sabda expand far beyond the physical, psychological and inner sentimental levels….They include the sublime realms of consciousness and therefore form a subject of investigations by the spiritual scientists.

The japa yoga aims at using the physical as well as the spiritual power of sabda with the help of the specific sonic patterns of the mantras. The subtle energy waves generated by the japa of a mantra reach at the specific cosmic center (linked with the devata of the mantra) and attract the supernatural currents of cosmic consciousness in proportionate amounts. The whole universe is like an ocean of the electromagnetic and conscious energy waves. The flow of thoughts and sentiments takes place via the latter kind of omnipresent waves. The sublime energy waves produced along with the ‘physical’ sound waves by the japa are spread in the cosmos and they reach back (with an amplified impact) to the sadhaka after being superimposed and further ‘electrified’ by the subtle waves of similar nature existing along their cosmic path….

The divine or the evil thoughts generated by an individual mind influence the fields of thoughts in the surrounding by attracting the thought waves of compatible quality and repulsing those of the opposite quality. The thought waves form their own field of attraction that adds to the expansion of the corresponding (divine or evil) currents of thoughts in the cosmic domains as well. Similar is the effect of the waves of consciousness generated by different kinds of sentiments and emotions.

The waves of thoughts or sentiments/emotions of an individual are strengthened in the similar (matching) fields traversed by them during their cosmic journey. And, because of the periodic nature of the movement of waves, they eventually reach back their origin. Completion of each such cycle amplifies the intensity of the associated good or bad effects. These inducing effects,
though subliminal in nature, indeed play an important role in inspiring and shaping one’s character and hence in building one’s destiny too.

The subtle waves generated by the mantra-japa are often more powerful and faster than the thought waves of the sadhaka. If generated repeatedly, in a consistent cyclic manner, these suprasonic waves help create serene and divine ambience within and around the sadhaka with strong field of attraction to influence the other waves of thoughts and sentiments that might
collide with them.

It is well known that the compounded magnetic effects of similar atoms (particles) gives rise to their dense collection. This clustering eventually results in the formation a mine, which gets richer by the augmentation in its power of attraction by successive increase in its repository of similar atoms (particles). Equivalently, the domain of influence of the subtle sonic waves generated by the japa of a mantra expands and becomes more powerful with the increase in the number of persons of similar spiritual levels who perform collective japa. The amplification of the radio waves by powerful transmitters at the relay centers makes their broadcast possible across the globe. Analogously, the force of the conscious energy in the waves generated by the japa intensifies along with the increase in the faith, sincerity, strength and piety
of thoughts and sentiments of the sadhaka(s).

The misconception that ’science and spirituality are mutually exclusive’ – has been prevailing in the minds of many people since long. At a superficial level, the two streams of knowledge aimed at decipheration of the ultimate truth appear to be contradicting and nullifying each other’s principles. The early period of modern scientific development cultivated a visible or tangible evidence driven reasoning and logic. This advocated a general belief that all progress and intellectual civilization of mankind has been possible only because of the material based scientific investigations and developments.

The misdeeds of the medieval era in the name of religion and the misinterpretation of the ancient sciences of spirituality fueled the simultaneous propagation of the so called rational thinkers and modern scientists that – “religion and spiritual philosophy are tools of the dull day-dreamers which drive people’s credulous minds into an ’intoxicated state’ of illusions and superstitions and thereby revert the direction of intellectual progress.” Nevertheless, dedicated saints and sagacious scholars of Human Psychology and spirituality of all ages have shown disagreement with such superficial judgments. Same have been the views of the founder fathers of the modern science who had the acumen to see the facts beyond the perceivable existence of the world. Pt. Shriram Sharma Acharya happens to be one of the greatest scholars of modern times who elucidated multiple dimensions of Science, Spirituality and Religion vis-a-vis the limitless expansion of nature and endless depth of human life.

He reviewed spirituality more as a subject matter of science than of religious philosophy. For him the science of spirituality is the ultimate domain of human psychology and all scientific knowledge. The material based modern science and the science of consciousness were described by him as the two sides of the same coin. Both are mutually complementary. The existence of either is incomplete without the other. The edifice of life on the earth rests on the strong foundation of these two pillars. Acharya Sharma has presented detailed analysis, rational arguments and evident examples in support of his views. Present volume is a collection of his related writings. He has elucidated deeper aspects of – deep ecology, cosmic order, esoteric events and yet unresolved secrets of nature, existence of extraterrestrial life, scientific basis of astrology, etc. and eventually proved how every activity and every form of existence – from micro subtler to cosmic levels and the eternal cycle of nature reflect the order of an omnipresent sole controlling power – the invisible Supreme Consciousness which manifests itself in every vibration of energy and pulsation of life. He has also cited authentic reviews and scientific studies which illustrate that – as modern science is advancing from subatomic to subtler forms of matter and venturing into gigantic expansion of cosmic energy, it is becoming clearer that the existence of universe and orderly activities of nature is not a mere coincidence rather, it appears to be planned under the control of a super intelligent, self-existing, eternal ’regulatory mechanism’. Starting from our solar system to its surrounding clusters and the ensemble of their respective galaxies, the author gives a glimpse of orderly movements in the cosmos. Emissions of the energy radiations from the sun – the center of our solar system and the appropriately controlled reception of the same by the earth make life on this planet possible. Similar perfection of gravitational balance and mutual transmissions exist among other stars, planets and planetary systems in the universe. By giving reviews of the scientific research findings, it is shown here – in an easy-to-grasp style that the cosmic expansion is neither disorderly nor an outcome of totally random phenomena. More arcane are the functions of the cellular, molecular, atomic and smaller entities – each of which contains an orderly ’universe’ of its enormous components at gradually subtler levels. These too remark the marvelous self-organizing eternal system of the supreme, self-existing power. We all live in the limitless ocean of consciousness. Same consciousness is vibrating within us, within every component of our body and mind. The difficult subject matter of (bio)physical sciences and the fields of consciousness in above context are dealt with excellent clarity and continuity by the author. This ease with in-depth analysis of complex topics and lucid style of presentation is indeed rare to find. It makes the present volume unique in many respects.

Mysterious manifestations of nature in different parts of the world are also described here highlighting the recent investigations and challenges posed before the scientific researchers in terms of identification of causes and justification for how such things happen in the visible three dimensional world against the yet established laws of science? Inquisitiveness of the readers will also get enlightened on the ever exciting issues of – “Are we alone in the cosmos? Is there existence of life on any other planet? How are the extraterrestrial living beings? UFOs – Facts and myths?” According to Acharya Sharma, the science of spirituality begins where the advancement of material based scientific investigations ends. As the science of spirituality deals with consciousness and its manifestation in visible forms and also in the latent domains of thoughts and sentiments, it can decipher everything which is within or beyond the reach of any other branch of science. We can peep into the depths of cosmic consciousness by creative integration of modern sciences with the ancient science of spirituality. One of the chapters of this volume is focused on the scientific basis of Astrology and the effects of planetary movements on human psychology. It points out the causes of mistakes and misleading trends of practices in this mathematically derived field of knowledge and offers new directions for collaborative research – in Astronomy and Astrology and other branches of (bio)physical sciences – which would offer superb benefits as were acquired and used by the Indian rishis ages ago for the absolute welfare, progress and peace of the entire world. Integration of the science of spirituality with the modern sciences would help elimination of misconceptions and illusions attached with the former and liberate it from the clutches of superstitions and blind faith in the name of religion. The necessity of adoption of the principles of spirituality would on the other hand serve the noble purpose of orienting scientific developments towards the path of true welfare and happiness and prevent the destructive and suppressive use of science and technology – by selfish and aristocratic intellectuals and ’rulers of world economy’ – in the name of technological advancement. This will also save the glory of humanity which appears to be lying at an edge of extinction in today’s consumerized and commercialized world. The central theme of the author is to guide mutually co-operating development of (bio)physical and spiritual sciences and related domains of human life so that the complementary of the two would lead to ultimate progress in the righteous direction. Hope the present volume would serve this purpose to make “21st century – bright future” a reality in all respects.

Vichar Kranti Abhiyan It is a unique Movement for Refinement of people’s thinking and positive orientation of mass psychology.

The unique experiment of “Vichar Kranti” – gradual refinement of thoughts, righteous transformation of attitude and sublime transmutation of human psychology up to the divine realms of spirituality is the foundation of this mission. The founder of the mission, Pt. Shriram Sharma Acharya, wrote about 3000 enlightening books on wide ranging topics. Thought Transformation Movement Includes:

  • Dissemination of Righteous Knowledge
  • Mass Awakening Campaign
  • Advent of New Era
Thoughts have got immense power. However for most of us thoughts are only figments of one’s imagination. Generally people consider thoughts as spare time entertainment, but the only reason for this is that they have never paid attention to the power of thoughts.

In fact, this entire world is a creation of thoughts. Gross material objects of physical world are nothing but the creation of subtle power of thoughts. The scriptures describe this entire Universe as the Creator’s urge to manifest as many. “ Ekoham Bahusyami”. Even if we don’t go that far, we can see the power of thoughts manifested all around us in the form of this evolved material world. All the material developments, arts, equipments, technological innovations, life-transforming literature are the result of the thoughts originated in the minds of their creators. First the possibility of such a creation arises in their thoughts, then contemplation and investigation on the same thought ultimately manifest as the creation.

The human life is an invaluable Gift from God. He gave us those privileges, which are not available to any other being. As the Prince of God it is our fore most duty to nurture His garden, the Mother Earth. Spirituality is Realization of Immortal Real Self and considering this human body to be the instrument of God and leading a purposeful and righteous life. This can be achieved by the synthesis of virtuous deeds (Karma Yoga),Righteous knowledge(Gyan Yoga) and faith and devotion (Bhakti Yoga) in our day to day life. After knowing this great truth, our most important duty is to move ahead in the path of spiritualism.  Read More

In the words of Gurudev Pt. Shriram Sharma Acharya (My Life — Its Legacy and Message – 89)

Risis are great men with awakened souls, who had once lived physically in the Himalayas

None of the ancient Risis have their physical bodies now although their individual consciousnesses still persist in appropriate planes of manifestation. Yugrishi Pt. Shriram Sharma Acharya Ji was introduced to all of them and was asked to follow in their foot-prints, establish an Ashram at Shantikunj, Haridwar as a symbol of Devatama Himalaya and execute the programme of revival of Risi traditions in such a way that the transition to the new era may be as smooth as possible.

Shantikunj is a symbolic representative of Devatma Himalaya. The souls of Risis residing in the Himalaya in astral bodies are summoned, invoked and installed here. It is still more important to know that not only mere idols of Risis have been installed here for symbolic worship but anyone sufficiently purified and fine-tuned can feel the strong vibrations of their particular energies. Thus, Shantikunj represent the energies of all the Risis.

Following are the detail of rishis and the activities under taken by Shantikunj.

Jamdagni’s son, Parashuram, had beheaded several tyrants by his battle axe. This can be taken as a symbolic description also. He had performed tapascharya in Yamnotri and had started a campaign for creative transformation. He destroyed evil tendencies of persons who were engrossed in immorality and were acting as impediments in the transformation of the society. He was engaged in the heroic task of rooting out viciousness and corruption prevalent in the minds of the people of his time. For this Bhagvan Shiva gifted him a Parasu (battle axe). In his latter half of life he had discarded the axe and had taken a spade in his hands which outwardly was symbolic of tree plantation but actually meant sowing the seeds of righteousness and creativity. The written and spoken words emanating from Shantikunj have played the role of Parasu in radically transforming the beliefs, feelings, thoughts and activities of innumerable persons.

Bhagirath had performed rigorous tapascharya to bring the Ganga from heavens to earth for removing water scarcity. Bhagirath Shila is situated near Gangotri. Ganga descended as a result of his tapascharyaand heroic industriousness and was, therefore, named as Bhagirathi. Bhagirath was put through a tough test; he successfully passed the test and earned the grace of Bhagvan Shiva. Today, there is an all-pervading famine of faith which can only be removed by Gyan Ganga, the divine flow of knowledge. The present famine in the realms of feelings and thoughts can be removed by the cleansing stream of knowledge which is flowing constantly from Shantikunj and it is hoped that goodwill and righteousness will soon be established throughout the world.

Charak Risi had undertaken thorough research of the inaccessible region of Kedarnath in the Himalayas to find out rare medicinal herbs which helped in healing. It is described in the scripture that Charak Risi used to have conversations with such herbs and enquired from them about their healing characteristics and qualities. He used to collect them at the appropriate time and conducted research on them. Several medicines which help in the growth of the life-forces, in pacifying emotions and mental derangements and which possess the qualities of bringing about positive changes in attitudes, actions and nature of man are contributions of his research. Ancient )Ayurveda has been revived here and research on finding out rare medicines and testing their ingredients, qualities with the help of modern scientific equipments, is being done at Shantikunj. How the use of only one appropriate medicine at a time can promote longevity is one of the researches which are being conducted here in accordance with Risi traditions of Charak.

Maharsi Vyas had written Puranas with the help of Ganesh in Vyas Cave near Vasodhara water-fall between the mountain ranges known as Nar and Narayan in Badrinath. Seclusion and peaceful and faithfilled environment is needed for doing any important work. In the present circumstances, when there is great dearth of good and inspiring literature, the founder of Shantikunj had, about twenty-five years back, written commentaries on four Vedas, eighteen Puranas, 108 Upnisads, six Darsans, twenty-four Gitas, Aranyaks, Brahmanas etc. and had made them easily available to all at modest prices. Appropriate literature, with a view to providing practical solutions to the forbidding problems of the present day life, is also being continuously written and it has influenced the hearts and minds of millions of people. The series of Pragya Puranas are a novel creation in which the philosophy of Upnisads has been explained in simple, easily understandable style through the medium of tales and stories.

Patanjali had conducted several researches and experiments on the science of yoga at Rudra Prayag on the confluence of Alaknanda and Mandakini. He proved that human body was a storehouse of energy. If the centres of energy within the body could be awakened a man can be transformed into a divinised person and he can acquire immense spiritual powers (riddhis and siddhis). In Shantikunj the sadhaks are imparted training in hathayoga, kayakalpa, asans and pranayam. They are examined mentally and physically by a team of qualified doctors and experts with the help of sophisticated scientific instruments and are advised and guided about the sadhana which they have to perform.

Yagyavalkya had undertaken research on yagya at Triyugi Narayan, had verified its efficacy in promoting the health of living beings and vegetation, in purification of the environment, inducing rainfall etc. There is a yagya-kund (hearth) in an inaccessible place in the Himalayas in which fire has been burning uninterruptedly since times immemorial. It is said that it is aglow since the marriage of Shiv-Parvati and is a symbol of the ancient tradition of fire. The Brahmavarchas Research Institute has undertaken the responsibility of conducting research on the ancient science of yagya which has become almost extinct these days. A full-fledged laboratory, duly equipped with modern scientific equipments, is functioning in the campus of this Institute for conducting researches on yagyopathy and people are wonder-struck to see its amazing positive impact on environment, pollution and treatment of physical and mental ailments, growth of vitality, rainfall of vital parjanya etc.

Vishvamitra is regarded as the Seer of , a creator of a new world. Sapta-Risis including Vishvamitra had in the ancient times performed tapascharyaon the sanctified land on which at present Shantikunj campus stands and had attained the grace of Adya-sakti Gayatri. I was inspired by Gurudev to build an ashram at this very land. The subtle vibrations of creative sadhana of Vishvamitra are still intensely active here.Mahapragya has been given the status of Yug-Sakti here and by installing idols of its 24 primary emanations, the message of Adya-sakti (Primordial Creative Power) of vasudhaiva kutumbakam and of steadfast and pure wisdom and righteousness was proclaimed from here. Several sadhaks have performed Gayatri anusthans and have grown spiritually. The Vishvamitra tradition is being revived here by conducting research about the power of sound and the technique of Savitri.

All-round training to vanprasthis was given in the ancient times in Gurukul Aranyak of Jamdagni which was located at Uttarkashi. Facilities were provided for training of wise, mature and aspiring persons in the performance of sadhana and penance. In Shantikunj arrangements have been made to impart training to parivrajak vanprasthis and public service workers. Children are imparted training in moral education in this Ashrams Gurukul vidyalaya and all-round training is being given to sadhaks in Yug-shilpi vidyalaya.

Devarsi Narada had performed tapascharya in Guptkashi. He used to play Veena and was constantly engaged in the work of public awakening. He used to give righteous guidance to the people by arousing their positive emotions and tendencies. Yug-Nirman music training school of Shantikunj has trained thousands of parivrajaks, who undertake tours in their regions and move in a group in jeeps in furtherance of Narad tradition.

Vashishtha had preached Yog-Vasistha to Ram at Devprayag. He integrated religion with statecraft. The founder of Shantikunj had participated in the Independence Movement from 1930 to 1947 and had undergone torture in jails. Later, the society was guided by him through the medium of books, literature; and everything which could be possible was done for the integration of spirituality and polity.

Adya Shankaracharya had performed tapascharya at Jyotirmath and had established four dhams (spiritual centres) in four corners of the country. His object was to integrate different cultures and to awaken people through religious institutions. This work of spreading Yug-chetna is now being conducted by Shantikunj through the network of Gayatri Saktipithas, Pragya sansthans, Svadhyaya mandals etc. which have been established throughout the country in the tradition of Adya Shakaracharya.

Risi Pipplada had conducted research near Rishikesh on the effect of food on mind. He maintained himself on the fruits of pipal tree and attained selfrealisation by exercising restraint and self-control. I strictly restricted myself to a diet of barley bread and butter-milk for twenty-four years, while performing Gayatri anusthans. Even thereafter, I have been living on boiled foodgrains and vegetables. Amritasan experiments are being conducted in Shantikunj in this respect. Soot-Shounik Risis used to hold sessions of discourses at Rishikesh by narrating ancient tales relating to the scriptures. The discourses of Pragya Purana in the present times have become so popular that people call it Yug-Purana . Four volumes of Pragya Purana have already been published and subsequent volumes are planned to be published in due course.

Harshvardhan had donated all his wealth at the time of Sarva-medh yagya which was performed at Har-Ki-Pouri, Haridwar. The founder of Shantikunj, too, had donated all his property for the construction of Gayatri Tapobhumi at Mathura and a high school in the village of his birth-place and kept nothing for himself or his family members. This tradition is now being followed by other workers who are permanently linked with Shantikunj.

Kanada Risi had conducted research about nuclear science and scientific aspect of spirituality according to the research traditions of  Atharva Veda. The intelligentsia today can be convinced not by words but by logic, facts, figures and evidence. In Brahmavarchas Research Institute, research is being conducted for integration of science and spirituality and the world is eagerly awaiting its results.

The parivrajaks of Buddha had undertaken extensive tours to spread the message of dharma (religion) throughout the world. In Shantikunj, parivrajaks are being trained for spreading the message of divine culture throughout the world. In India itself about a lakh Pragya-putras are engaged in this work of spreading Yug-chetna from house to house.

Aryabhatta was a great scientist who conducted astronomical researches to examine the influence of other planets of the solar system on the earth, its atmosphere and living beings. An observatory has been set up in Gayatri Nagar, astronomical researches are being conducted and an almanac based on drisya Arithmetic is being published from here. The spiritual teachings of the saints of the middle ages, viz. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Sant Gyaneshwar, Samarth Guru Ramdas, Prannath Mahaprabhu, Ramkrishna Paramhansa in regard to the spread of righteousness are being followed in Shantikunj.

It is most important to stress that the atmosphere of this Asram is so surcharged with piety and righteousness that it automatically attracts people towards spirituality. This is due to the presence here of Risis in their astral forms. They must definitely be quite happy to see revival of their ancient traditions here. This earth has been blessed by the tapascharya performed here by the Risis. Lav-Kush were brought up and trained in Valmiki Ashram, Bharat in Kandva Asram , Rukmini performed tapascharya in Badrinarayan and gave birth to Pradyumna who, in valour and wisdom, was equal to his father, Shri Krishna. Pavan and Anjani gave birth to Bajarangabali in the Asram of Poosha. These are miraculous boons of tapascharya, sadhana performed in this holy region of the Himalayas.

There are several instances of advantages accruing to faithfilled persons from contacts with saints and by visiting holy places. A drop of water of svati naksattra falling in an oyster-shell becomes a pearl. It becomes vansalocan when it falls on a bamboo tree and camphor when it meets a plantain tree. A piece of iron when it touches paras becomes gold. My guide, Gurudev, has been living since several centuries in his astral body at Nandanvan in the Himalayas, which is known as heaven of the earth, the gateway of which is Haridwar, wherein Shantikunj is situated. He summoned me to the Himalayas from time to time to recharge my spiritual battery, whenever I was to be entrusted with new responsibility. I always experienced having returned from the Himalayas with an immensely augmented store of energy.

I often invite awakened souls, Pragya-putras, to Shantikunj to undergo training or perform sadhana to acquire competence to play the role akin to the bears and monkeys of ,Treta Yug, of gval-bals of Dvapar Yug in the tasks of ushering in the new golden era. This place has its own significance on account of divine patronage. Persons residing here even for a short time feel that they are being rejuvenated. In fact it is a spiritual sanatorium.

The ghrit lamp which has been alight for the last sixty years, performance of yagya for two hours daily in the morning and Gayatri Mahapurascaranas in both the navratris, daily jap by sadhaks in this sadhana Aranyak, all combine to create a sanctified divine environment here, as one finds in Malayagiri by the sweet smell of sandal wood. Even without doing sadhana a person feels unalloyed joy as if his entire time here has been spent in tapascharya and sadhana. Shantikunj Gayatri Tirtha is a sacred Siddhapitha because the Risis in their astral bodies are present here, overseeing the various kinds of activities being carried on here pertaining to their particular traditions.

The most important work of life has been to make direct and indirect, visible and invisible efforts to change the present milieu. These days there is intense crisis of faith. People are bent upon breaking all principles of propriety, morality and conduct. This has resulted in the growth of evil conduct and licentiousness. Today, neither an individual is happy nor is there any stability in the society. Problems, calamities, horrors are increasing day by day. The efforts to stem this overwhelming tide of unrightousness are not succeeding anywhere. The remedy lies only in the refinement of the minds and emotions of the masses and inspiring growth of righteous tendencies. This has to be done directly by constructive, reformative work and indirectly by invisible spiritual influence. This is being done and the entire energy is being mobilised to attain this objective. The results attained so far are encouraging and the results visualised in future will be unprecedented.
